    Plate Heat Exchangers

    Plate Heat Exchangers

Preface With GEA Ecoflex you use the technical know how of one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of plate heat exchangers (PHE). We would like to make the handling of the plate heat exchanger as safe and simple as possible. For this reason, these comprehensive operating instructions serve as your personal adviser who explains everything understandably and clearly: structure, function, installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, transport and repair. We especially devote ourselves to the subject of safety, so that all possible dangers or damage can be avoided from the start. For that reason alone, all employees who deal with the plate heat exchanger should be able to refer to these important operating instructions at all times. In the concise table of contents you will quickly find what you are looking for. If not, look in the index with page references. In the same way all technical terms are informatively explained. After all, no questions should remain open, and in the case they do, your GEA Ecoflex agent or the central service department is glad to assist you further. Additional operating instructions for special applications supplement these general operating instructions. With this in mind, we wish you a trouble-free operation with GEA Ecoflex plate heat exchangers.

    Installation/Operating Manual

    Installation/Operating Manual

The marking on the pump refers to the pump only. Example of such marking: II 2 G c TX Refer to the Temperature limits table for the temperatures permitted for the individual pump variants. (⇨ ) An EC manufacturer's declaration is required for the shaft coupling; the shaft coupling must be marked accordingly. The motor has its own marking. The marking is maintained on the condition that the temperatures the pump causes to develop at the motor flange and motor shaft are permitted by the motor manufacturer. The motors fitted by KSB on pumps with ATEX certification meet this condition. 2.10.2 Temperature limits In normal pump operation, the highest temperatures are to be expected on the surface of the pump casing and at the shaft seal. The surface temperature at the pump casing corresponds to the temperature of the fluid handled. If the pump is heated, the operator of the system is responsible for observing the specified temperature classes and fluid temperature (operating temperature). The table below lists the temperature classes and the resulting theoretical temperature limits of the fluid handled. (A possible temperature rise in the shaft seal area has already been taken into account). The temperature class specifies the maximum permissible temperature at the surface of the pump set during operation. For the permissible operating temperature of the pump in question refer to the data sheet. Table 4: Temperature limits Temperature class as per EN 13463-1 Max. permissible fluid temperature T1 Temperature limit of the pump T2 280 °C T3 185 °C T4 120 °C T5 85 °C T6 Only after consultation with the manufacturer If the pump is to be operated at a higher temperature, the data sheet is missing or if the pump is part of a pool of pumps, contact KSB for the maximum permissible operating temperature. If a pump is supplied without motor (as part of a pool of pumps), the motor specified in the pump data sheet must meet the following conditions: ▪ The permissible temperature limits at the motor flange and motor shaft must be higher than the temperatures generated by the pump. ▪ Contact the manufacturer for the actual pump temperatures. Evaporative Condensers Baltimore Aircoil Company equipment needs to be properly installed, operated and maintained. Documentation of the equipment used, including a drawing, technical data sheet and this manual should be kept on record. To achieve long, trouble-free and safe operation, it is necessary to establish an operating plan including a programme of regular inspection, monitoring and maintenance. All inspections, maintenance and monitoring actions should be recorded in a cooling system logbook. The operating and maintenance instructions published here can be used as a guide to achieve these goals. In addition to establishing the operating plan and the cooling system logbook it is recommended to conduct a cooling system risk analysis, preferably by an independent third party. For the cooling system, scale, corrosion and biological control must be established and initiated when the system is first filled with water and administered on a regular basis thereafter in accordance with recognized Codes of Practice, (such as EUROVENT 9 - 5/6, ACOP HSC L8, Guide des bonnes pratiques, Legionella et tours aéroréfrigérantes, etc.). Water sampling, test results and corrective actions should be recorded in the cooling system logbook. For more specific recommendations on keeping your cooling system efficient and safe, contact your local BAC Balticare representative.

Baltimore Aircoil Company VX equipment has been designed to give long, trouble-free service when properly installed, operated, and maintained. To obtain optimum performance and maximum service life, it is important that a program of regular inspection and maintenance be developed and carried out. This bulletin is published as a guide to establishing such a program. Included in the bulletin are the recommended services for start-up, operation and shutdown and the approximate frequency for each. Note that the recommendations on frequency of service are minimums and where operating conditions are severe, the services should be performed more often. For each required service, follow the procedures outlined under the “Maintenance Procedures” section of this bulletin. The VXT, VXI, and VXC models are illustrated in a cutaway form on pages 2 and 3 with the major points of inspection and service identified. A copy of the unit certified drawing should also be available for reference. If you do not have a copy of this drawing, or if you need additional information about operation or maintenance not covered in this bulletin, contact the local B.A.C. representative. The name and phone number are on a label at the connection end of the unit

2.6.13 Checking the water circuits Check whether the cooling and cold water pumps are running and the shut-off fittings in the cooling water circuit are in their operating positions. While the unit/ chiller is operating under project conditions, adjust the cooling water control so that the condensing and oil temperature lies within the permissible range.

The capacity control slide travel speed in the MIN direction is determined by the fine adjustment of the position screw (DS6). The capacity control slide travel speed in the MAX direction is determined by the fine adjustment of the position screw (DS5). The position screw (DS7) is opened approximately 2 turns and is only operated when, despite a fully opened adjustment screw (DS6), the capacity control slide travel speed in the MAX direction is too slow. The pressure limitation valve (DBV) guarantees a maximal overpressure Δp = 6 bar in relation to suction pressure (for travel speed in the MAX direction). The adjusting speed is decreased by throttling screws DS5 and DS6. The adjustment screws DS5, DS6 and DS7 as well as the pressure limiting valve DBV are integrated into the solenoid valve block for capacity contro
